Life happens. The good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful. We do our best and we hope for the best. And while we can’t control everything that happens to us, we can change the way we experience what happens to us. In fact, addressing the way we experience life is the best way to ensure workplace wellbeing.
Look at Stress to Best Ensure Workplace Wellbeing
Stressful situations don’t have to cause stress. We can look at difficult situations either with an objective, neutral, calm clarity. Or, we can panic and see only our imagined worse-case scenarios. We can see obstacles as welcome challenges to overcome and prosper through, or we can see them as the bringer of the apocalypse.
The Best Way to Ensure Workplace Wellbeing
How we see problems is everything. They can either drain us or energize us. And there is no better way to improve workplace wellbeing than mindfulness and meditation.
Meditation is the practice of observing reality as it really is, beyond the cloudy haze of thoughts, labels, judgements and opinions. It’s about constantly observing, accepting and responding to the present moment without any negativity or resistance. This is the energizing action – action that feels effortless.
Mindfulness is the heightened state of awareness that meditation helps become habit. It is awareness of awareness itself, and so it observes situations with a distance that usually only comes with time. Rather than viewing stressful situations as personal attacks, they can be viewed without the usual emotional weight that comes with it.
Having mindfulness is like stepping off of a roller coaster and watching it from a distance instead. Suddenly, you have a larger perspective and some distance, so now not every twist and turn feels like a life or death situation and you can just simply appreciate the design of it.
